One Room Challenge: Virtual Atlanta Loft Design

Despite this round of the One Room Challenge being completely virtual, the past five weeks have flown by as always! Today is the final reveal day, and I couldn't be more excited to share my design of an intown Atlanta loft, inspired by the Fulton Cotton Mill Lofts and the pretend professional client couple who I imagined this sophisticated home for. The loft provided me with an edgy, industrial canvas for layering in my "new Southern" style with a mix of periods and patterns and a fresh twist in the color palette. I even managed to include my own Amiens maze rug and two abstract paintings from my Ida Collection in the living room. Continue reading for all my sources from the showrooms at High Point Market and to see the rest of these amazing renders made with Foyr's Neo software!

The living room in this loft space is a dramatic, double-story room with an exposed brick wall and steel-framed windows. I chose the designer-favorite Alabaster White from Sherwin-Williams for a soft backdrop for this light-filled room. Two large light chandeliers illuminate the space from above, and a mix of traditional and contemporary silhouettes mingle in two distinct seating areas bridged by the tan hand-tufted Amiens rug below.

I love how the jaunty red stripe brought this Raleigh sofa to life! It adds an unexpected, youthful energy to the color scheme in the room and ties in the spots of red in both of my original abstract paintings on the walls. I paired it with raffia end tables for a soft, warm texture, charcoal gray lamps, and a vintage coffee table with a beautiful green marble top.

The dining room is a cocoon of rich, dark teal, with Sherwin-Williams Rainstorm on the walls. I softened the space by lining the back wall with curtains, which frame antique French doors for an architectural statement. The Sheung Wan cabinet is such a gem in this room, bringing a worldly accent with its illustrated exterior. Above the table, a contemporary white chandelier ties in the Klismos dining chairs for a bright contrast against the moody teal.

These renderings were created with Foyr's Neo software, which makes it incredibly easy to make photorealistic interior renderings! There is even a 3D walkthrough of the room for you to explore.
I really pushed myself in this design to step out of my comfort zone with the colors and materials I pulled together for this loft. I am really happy with how energetic the result feels – and completely unique! From the beautiful lines of the furniture I sourced from High Point Market to the custom fabrics I selected for upholstery and drapes, this virtual project represented a true design process and was so much fun to create. Thank you so much to Linda Weinstein for inviting me to be part of this HPMKT Edition of the One Room Challenge. She put together such a special group of designers – head over to their blogs below to see all of the final room reveals!
