What is the difference between hand-knotted and hand-tufted rugs?
A hand-knotted rug is built knot by knot on a loom, so the pile is part of the foundation. A hand-tufted rug is made by punching wool through a backing, which is faster and gives a plusher pile. Hand-knotted is the more durable of the two and the one that lasts for generations.
