The Linwood Lift-Top Desk
Double-functionality is important in small spaces, so I love using a desk in place of a media console (I did the same in my old apartment too). Not only does this make the surface work double-duty as a work station when needed, but it also offers more depth than a typical console, making it possible to style the tabletop more to help blend the TV into the design. This would work even better with a mounted TV, but for now I like hiding it behind my stacks of coffee table books! I love the detailing on the drawers of this Linwood desk, and the dark stain is perfect for the moodier aesthetic in my apartment.

Angelina Counter Stools & Marigot Shell Mirror
I am so particular about counter stools because they really do get so much use in an apartment, so style and comfort are both equally important. These Angelina counter stools are as stylish as they are sturdy – the wipeable leather seats, plush comfort, and polished brass details make them a standout in our kitchen, and they’re always the favorite perch when guests are over.
Just beside the kitchen, I added a statement piece that’s become a total conversation starter: the Marigot shell mirror. Hung against a scenic landscape toile wallpaper, this mirror’s silhouette and hand-applied shell finish add a refined yet whimsical touch. It’s a true “New Regency” moment and brings unexpected elegance to the breakfast nook.
Annette Handpainted Floral Triptych
To finish my sister’s bedroom in the apartment, I needed a statement piece to fill the expanse of wall above her cozy bouclé platform bed. The Annette Handpainted Triptych was the perfect solution. This set of three chinoiserie-style painted panels adds architectural scale, serene color, and hand-detailed artistry to the room. The pale blue tones tie into the bedding beautifully, and the arched frame echoes the curve of the headboard, making the whole wall feel intentional and elevated.

Brando Side Table
Last but not least, my bedroom needed a pair of substantial nightstands so I chose the Brando side tables for the addition of one of my favorite materials, burl wood. I love the brass detailing on the edge of this table, and the burled wood and curved corners bring home the Art Deco look. Things tend to accumulate in my nightstand drawers, so I'm liking the simplicity of having these more streamlined tables beside the bed.
Adding the final layers to a space can be one of the most satisfying parts of interior design. Whether it’s a beautifully crafted burl wood side table, a hand-painted mirror that makes a statement, or high-functioning counter stools that still feel luxe, Frontgate’s collection helped bring polish and personality to every corner of my apartment. These pieces have not only enhanced the functionality of each space but also elevated the overall aesthetic—proof that the finishing touches really do make all the difference.
