Spring Patio Ideas From the West Midtown Townhouse

·
This project was produced in partnership with AllModern.
My mom's patio has come a long way since she moved in at the beginning of the year! The design came together just in time for warmer weather, and we made some easy changes that really made this outdoor space an inviting place to hang out. It started with a coat of paint on the floor to cover the red stone and give a more neutral foundation, brought in a modern sectional set from AllModern to define the seating area, then filled it with the terracotta pots that we had on the Dove Hill deck to add greenery. The final touch was string lights above to bring a warm glow to the patio at night! Before decorating your patio, make sure to do a patio cleaning to clear and prevent mildew from growing on hard surfaces. See how the space transformed below.

I love how this sectional includes extensions on each end that serve as side tables. The piece has a great scale that fills this corner so perfectly, and the grey upholstery provided an easy backdrop for mixing in some fun throw pillows.
The string lights are absolutely essential at night! They add such a nice glow and help define the "ceiling" above the seating to make it feel more like a room.
I can't wait for our climbing hydrangea, creeping fig, and boston ivy to cover the back wall and make a lush green backdrop for the space! We're also planning on building a fence in front of the HVAC units to grow jasmine on and get our old fountain up and running again (one of my favorite Southern garden plants). But it's already become such a charming place to hang out!
