Adding the Finishing Touches With Frontgate
JULY 29, 2024 - Written by Kevin O'Gara
When it came to choosing some of the most essential finishing touches for my new apartment, I turned to Frontgate for classic, luxe furniture and decor that would elevate the design. From the kitchen to the bedroom, I love the transitional style and materiality of these pieces. See the items I chose for my design below – and get a first glimpse at the finished rooms!

The Linwood Lift-Top Desk
Double-functionality is important in small spaces, so I love using a desk in place of a media console (I did the same in my old apartment too). Not only does this make the surface work double-duty as a work station when needed, but it also offers more depth than a typical console, making it possible to style the tabletop more to help blend the TV into the design. This would work even better with a mounted TV, but for now I like hiding it behind my stacks of coffee table books! I love the detailing on the drawers of this Linwood desk, and the dark stain is perfect for the moodier aesthetic in my apartment.
Angelina Counter Stools & Marigot Shell Mirror
I am so particular about counter stools because they really do get so much use in an apartment, so style and comfort are both equally important. These Angelina counter stools completely upgraded our kitchen and are a favorite place for guests to sit! I love how comfortable they are and how easy it is to wipe down the leather in case of a spill. The brass details really make these pieces shine and they are incredibly sturdy.
On the adjacent wall by the kitchen, which I covered in this lovely landscape toile removable wallpaper, I hung the Marigot shell mirror. This piece is probably the most talked-about item in our apartment – I love what a statement it is. The silhouette and materials make a truly "New Regency" piece of decor and it brings such a decorative touch to the kitchen area.
Brando Side Table
Last but not least, my bedroom needed a pair of substantial nightstands so I chose the Brando side tables for the addition of one of my favorite materials, burl wood. I love the brass detailing on the edge of this table, and the burled wood and curved corners bring home the Art Deco look. Things tend to accumulate in my nightstand drawers, so I'm liking the simplicity of having these more streamlined tables beside the bed!
