Westover Place Project: A Classic Foundation for the Living Room
November 25, 2023 - Written by Kevin O'Gara
To set a classic foundation for the Westover Place Project living room, I turned to British brand Oka. I've always admired their spunky-traditional style, and was excited to source a few of their most iconic designs for the first time: the best-selling Tarma armchair and the luxe Avitus linen sofa. I also included the bronze Opplyst nesting coffee tables in this design, sitting them on my Dede floral hand-knotted area rug. I love how the rug's pattern reflects the floral embroidered print on the armchair, which makes a cozy reading nook with a pair of light wood bookshelves. Oka Tarma Armchair Review
I love the Tarma armchair because it's classic while still being a fun statement piece. it was hard to choose between all five patterns, but I love the embroidery on this floral fabric. The chair is very deep and fairly wide, so it's perfect for the corner of a room but unfortunately we couldn't fit two by the windows due to the size. All of the chairs come with fringe you can add to the base – it velcros underneath the bottom of the chair. I love the trim, but the tassels actually arrived super crumpled so I need to figure out a way to comb them out.
Oka Avitus Linen Sofa Review
The Avitus sofa feels like a luxury upgrade to the "cloud sofa" dupes on the market. This sofa offers a timeless silhouette with linen slipcover upholstery in the perfect off-white and down cushions that are so dreamy to sink into. The sofa base is actually two pieces, and with the size of the cushions it's really only a two-seater. As with any down-filled seating, the cushions need regular turning and fluffing to keep the feathers evenly distributed. There is a little feather shedding, but it's fairly minimal. Overall I really love the luxury detailing from the flange edge on the cushions to the weight of the linen upholstery.
