It’s time to deck the halls once again! The holidays always bring my family and friends together, so I can’t help but think of cozy nights gathered around the dinner table, a warm fire (or oven!), and bringing in some of the outdoors to the inside with trees, garland, candles, and wood tones!
When my friends at Joss & Main wanted to chat about the holidays, I couldn’t wait to share my tips, advice and inspiration for The Holiday Edit.

The Joss & Main Holiday Edit Q & A with Kevin Francis O'Gara of Kevin Francis Design
Joss & Main: What signifies (drum roll, please) “The Holidays” to you? Is it the dropping temperature, the lights going up downtown, or Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby on the radio?
Blogger: I absolutely love the holiday season, and one of the biggest reasons is all the lights that are added to home and landscapes as the evenings grow darker. I always look forward to the warmth of holiday lights and the magic they add! Otherwise, listening to Christmas jazz, having a fire in the living room, and adding more layers to the decor with extra pillows and throws always marks the start of the season for me.
Joss & Main: What’s special about this year’s holidays? Any intentions or big goals for this season?
Blogger: I don't have any big plans this year, besides hosting my annual holiday dinner party with my longtime friends from high school. Many of my friends live in other cities, so each year when they return home for the holidays I like to get everyone together a host a beautiful dinner party to catch-up and reconnect.
Joss & Main: Is your home feeling ‘winterized’ yet? How do you plan on adding more cozy elements to your home?
Blogger: I love bringing out the faux fur blankets during the winter – there's one in particular that my mom made when I was a child and it's got the best fur (and a very luxe big size). I haven't been able to find anything like it since!
Joss & Main: Where do you get your inspiration from for holiday decorating? Do you lean more to “Little Women” with handmade orange slices and primitive garlands- or go classic with cream tones and clean lines a la Cameron Diaz in “The Holiday”?
Blogger: My family has always embraced untraditional holiday color palettes, so I love continuing that tradition and trying new and unexpected color combinations, like ice blue and orange or lime green and pink to switch up the decor each year. This year, I think I'll be using mostly iridescent whites on the Christmas tree, so it will be very ethereal!
